Météo-France, the French national weather service, placed the departments of Hérault, Gard, Haute-Corse and Corse-du-Sud under orange rain-flood vigilance beginning 6 a.m. local time on Thursday, Nov. 5, 2026. The warning runs through midnight local time at the end of Nov. 5, 2026.

Orange is the third of Météo-France's four vigilance levels, above green and yellow and one step below the agency's highest level, red. Météo-France describes red as requiring absolute vigilance for weather of exceptional intensity, and orange as meaning hazardous phenomena are expected, with the public advised to stay informed of how the situation develops and follow official safety guidance.

The agency said heavy rain likely to affect human activities is expected across the four departments, with possible flooding and reduced visibility. Road travel may be difficult, and the agency said some disruptions may affect rail travel.

The agency's safety guidance tells residents to stay away from rivers and low-lying points and to reach higher ground or shelter upstairs. It said people should not drive on a flooded road, even partially, should avoid traveling where possible, and should keep themselves informed of rising water levels. It also advised against going into basements and said people should move belongings out of reach of water and locate their emergency kit.
