Super Typhoon In-Fa's 150 Mph Winds Prompt Watch for Northern Marianas

A Typhoon Watch remains in effect for Agrihan, Pagan and Alamagan, the inhabited islands at the northern end of the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands, after Super Typhoon In-Fa's maximum sustained winds reached 150 mph. The storm's center was about 840 miles east of Alamagan and roughly 910 miles east of Guam, moving west at 12 mph. The National Weather Service's office in Tiyan, Guam, issued the watch in a Hurricane Local Statement at 8:48 p.m. ChST Oct. 28, 2026.
A Typhoon Watch means that typhoon conditions, including winds of 74 mph or higher, are possible within 48 hours, the agency said.
The National Weather Service told residents on the three islands to bring small loose objects indoors, identify a sturdy shelter and store several days of food and water, adding that a cave or similar space could serve as shelter where no concrete building is available.
The latest forecast track from the Joint Typhoon Warning Center showed In-Fa's center passing close to or over Agrihan late Friday, Oct. 30, 2026, as the storm turns slightly toward the northwest, the National Weather Service said.
