Crypto exchange Bitget says unauthorized transfers took about $351.6 million out of part of its wallet system, and the company has paused customer withdrawals while it investigates. Its security notice puts the time of detection at 18:31 UTC on Sept. 24, 2026, and says the pause is a precaution pending a security review.

Bitget says deposits and trading are working normally, that account balances are accurate, and that withdrawals will be restored once the security review is complete.

Bitget says it keeps customer funds in three layers. The notice says the transfers reached only part of the hot and warm layers, which stay connected to the internet so funds can move. Its cold wallets, which are kept offline, remain fully secure, according to the company.

The company also says the loss falls inside the coverage of its User Protection Fund, which it puts at more than $464 million, and that customer assets are protected as a result. Both figures are Bitget's own, and no independent accounting of the incident has been published.

Bitget says its emergency response team was activated within minutes of detection and that the addresses involved were identified, flagged and reported. It says authorities and outside security firms that trace blockchain transactions have been notified and are involved in the response.

The company says it will not speculate on how the transfers were made until its investigation is complete, and that further updates will be posted on the notice page and its other official channels.
