Flash Floods Trigger Las Vegas Rescues, Close Mohave County Roads
Flash flooding swept across Clark County in southern Nevada and Mohave County in northwestern Arizona on Oct. 11, 2026. The flooding triggered a series of swift-water rescues in the Las Vegas valley and closed roads on both sides of the state line, the National Weather Service's Las Vegas, Nevada, office said in a string of local storm reports. Up to 3.30 inches of rain fell in 24 hours near Hualapai Peak in Mohave County, the office said.
In the Las Vegas valley, the weather service tallied at least six swift-water rescues, including two people pulled from floodwater near Henderson, as flash flooding trapped cars in standing water. No deaths or injuries had been reported as of the office's last report, issued at 10:45 p.m. local time Sunday, Oct. 11, 2026.
In Mohave County, flash flooding closed roads in at least seven communities. Near Dolan Springs, a flood wave along Detrital Wash crested at 4.28 feet before road crews closed White Hills Road, the weather service said.
Flash flooding also closed roads across the eastern Mojave Desert in California's San Bernardino and Inyo counties, the Las Vegas office said, including a stretch of State Route 62 shut down from U.S. Highway 95 to the Arizona state line.
