The remnants of Hurricane Simon was located about 100 miles south-southwest of Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, at 2 p.m. MST Friday, Oct. 16, 2026, with maximum sustained winds of 35 mph, the National Hurricane Center said in its final advisory on the storm. Simon never made landfall.

The remnant low was drifting northwest at 13 mph, with a minimum central pressure of 1006 millibars, and there were no coastal watches or warnings in effect, the center said.

Swells from Simon's remnants could still reach the coast of west-central Mexico and Baja California Sur over the next day or so, the center said, warning they are likely to produce life-threatening surf and rip currents.

Simon had reached Category 4 strength and prompted a Hurricane Warning for Mexico's Pacific coast earlier in its track, the center said.
