Heavy rain triggered flooding and a landslide in Liguria, Italy, around 5:38 p.m. local time Tuesday, Oct. 20, 2026, isolating the towns of Celle Ligure and Albissola and flooding streets in Genoa.

Rai News, the news service of Italian state broadcaster RAI, reported that a boulder fell onto the Via Aurelia coastal road between Celle Ligure and Albissola, cutting off both towns. In Finale, a 60-year-old woman was injured by a falling tree branch. In Genoa, the bad weather caused widespread disruption and halted port activity at Pra'. Fire brigade crews carried out a water rescue in the San Fruttuoso district, after a car was left half-submerged on a flooded street.

TGCOM24, the news outlet of broadcaster Mediaset, corroborated the account. The outlet reported that about 230 millimeters of rain fell in roughly six hours at Lavagnola, in Savona province, and that the Rio Basco stream overflowed in Albissola, flooding shops and streets. It also reported that the road at Celle Ligure was closed after a rockfall.
