Flash flooding swept away a house and left several others surrounded by water along the Rio Blanco River near Pagosa Springs, Colorado, after heavy rain fell across the region beginning the evening of Oct. 22, 2026, the National Weather Service's office in Grand Junction, Colorado, said.

The office logged five storm reports in all, most of them in Archuleta County. The most serious, at 9:13 a.m. Mountain time Friday, Oct. 23, 2026, described major flooding on the Rio Blanco River; one house on County Road 337 was swept away, and water surrounded several other houses. No injuries or rescues had been reported as of Friday, Oct. 23, 2026. Flooding was also reported that morning about 8 miles southeast of Pagosa Springs.

In Archuleta County, the weather service said Highway 17 was closed because of safety concerns from flooding. Near Durango, in La Plata County, the weather service said local law enforcement closed a stretch of the Animas River to recreational boating and floating because of flooding; video showed the area inundated.
